David William Baum is a photographer and creative director who works in New York, San Francisco, and from his base in Los Angeles. His fashion-, still life-, and landscape-focused portfolio includes commissions from online clothing company Everlane, jewellery designer Luz Ortiz, fashion brand Kate Spade, and luxury goods brand Shinola. Graphic and interactive designer Ben Mingo - based in Amsterdam - was asked to develop a website representing Baum's style and work.
Ben created a website that exhibits the quality of Baum's work beautifully. A simple canvas exploring scales of contrast as a primary theme. All imagery is mixed up, and seems unorganised. However, as you head deeper into the site, content becomes larger and more structured. The designer has used intentionally awkward sans serif font Styrene to add a clean, geometric quality that provides an anchor for the kinesthetic imagery*.
*Kinesthetic imagery deals with the movement or action of objects or people.
Bold, contemporary internet design. Original navigation style displaying photographer's work. Exhibiting neat and cool portfolio.
